Lessons Learned #17:  Pink and Blue Zones….If You’re Not Saying “No”, You’re Not Making Dough

In early FY25, the team of Ewelina Baczynska, Kitwana Baker and Veronica Brock reviewed Dollar General deductions which were over $250k in FY24 with the culprits being mainly “Vendor Not Ready” and “Vendor Late Calling.” Seeing opportunities for revision and savings, they compared the DG vendor guide, EDI POs and the JDE orders, and through their research, they discovered a way in which JDE could be better configured to provide dates through the EDI PO to Customer Service and ultimately Logistics so that our normal processes can achieve what DG requires without the heavy deductions. They created a systemic and sustainable method that will alleviate deductions for the foreseeable future. They also created a tracker of all carrier created delays and as of 10/24, significant deductions have ceased. Through the work of this team, well over $200k in savings straight to the bottom line is expected in FY25.
